Last night they could do no wrong. Tonight, not so much.
The Los Angeles Clippers got 30 points from Blake Griffin and stellar play off the bench from Danny Granger and Willie Green to knock off the Warriors 111-98.
Golden State Warriors bench had been averaging 39 points since the All-Star break. With the additions of Jordan Crawford and Steve Blake; and with Jermaine O’Neal coming back from injury the Warriors felt good about their subs. But, tonight they were awful. Blake went 0-for-6 from the field and did not score. Crawford did not score and O’Neal only made one field goal. It was far cry from last night when the bench shined in a 108-85 win over Dallas.
The Clippers bench was able to always make up ground on the Dubs as Granger poured in 18, with Green chipping in with 13. With the win the Clips move to 46-20 on the season and have the second longest win streak in franchise history at nine games. The Warriors saw their 5 game winning streak snapped.
The Warriors were led by Klay Thompson who scored 26. David Lee added 20. Steph Curry had to leave the game late and it appeared he re-aggravated his injured quad. Warriors coach Mark Jackson was non-committal on Curry’s availability for the Dubs Friday game against Cleveland. The loss keeps the Warriors at the number six spot in the Western Conference playoff chase. It pretty much guts any chance the Dubs had at catching the Clippers for the Pacific Division title.
